Braised Beef Shank Fettuccine
Slow-braised beef shanks in a rich vegetable sauce tossed with fettuccine — hearty, comforting Italian flavor from Italiano Pronto.
Ingredients
- 1½ Tbsp Italiano Pronto
- 3 lbs beef shank (3 shanks, 1 lb each)
- 3 carrots, diced ½ inch
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 1 large white onion, diced
- 1 small stem fresh rosemary
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 1 cup white wine
- ½ cup half & half (or whole milk)
- 1 large clove garlic, diced
- Salt and fresh cracked pepper
- 3 cups beef broth
Directions
- Season beef shanks on both sides with Italiano Pronto and let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a dutch oven over high heat and brown shanks on all sides, about 3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté chopped onion, carrots, and celery until softened.
- Add tomato paste, garlic, and rosemary, then deglaze with white wine and beef broth.
- Return shanks to the pot, cover, and braise in a 325°F oven for about 2 hours until fork-tender.
- Remove shanks, shred the meat, and blend the vegetables into a sauce. Stir in half & half.
- Toss with cooked fettuccine and serve.
Tips
- Start with 1½ Tbsp of Italiano Pronto and add more to taste as flavors develop during braising.
