Prep: 30 mins | Cook: 2 hrs 30 mins | Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 1½ Tbsp Italiano Pronto
  • 3 lbs beef shank (3 shanks, 1 lb each)
  • 3 carrots, diced ½ inch
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1 large white onion, diced
  • 1 small stem fresh rosemary
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1 cup white wine
  • ½ cup half & half (or whole milk)
  • 1 large clove garlic, diced
  • Salt and fresh cracked pepper
  • 3 cups beef broth

Directions

  1. Season beef shanks on both sides with Italiano Pronto and let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  2. Heat olive oil in a dutch oven over high heat and brown shanks on all sides, about 3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté chopped onion, carrots, and celery until softened.
  4. Add tomato paste, garlic, and rosemary, then deglaze with white wine and beef broth.
  5. Return shanks to the pot, cover, and braise in a 325°F oven for about 2 hours until fork-tender.
  6. Remove shanks, shred the meat, and blend the vegetables into a sauce. Stir in half & half.
  7. Toss with cooked fettuccine and serve.
